Examination of the field of aviation law, in particular as it applies to national security. An overview of the domestic and international legal frameworks governing aviation, initial debates over state security and freedom of the air, and the developments that led to the Chicago Convention on Civil Aviation. A review of U.S. air law and federal statutes and regulations that govern U.S. airspace and its air transportation system; air law through international treaties and relevant organizations and subsequently how they apply to several acts by state and non-state actors; the relationship between aviation and individual rights under the Constitution; and emerging issues in air law and national security.
