GW Law’s History and Mission
Founded in 1865, GW Law was the first law school in Washington, D.C., and since then, we have continued to attract some of the most innovative minds across the spectrum of legal scholarship. Our school makes an impact on the law through the leadership of our diverse faculty and staff, the extraordinary influence of our extensive alumni network, and our insider knowledge gained from our proximity to downtown Washington, D.C.
